What’s New in Articulate 360

Articulate 360 was released today, and although I haven’t had as much time as I would like to explore everything it has to offer, it’s very clear that this is a huge announcement for Articulate. In fact, I’d say this far exceeds the original announcement of Articulate Storyline, in 2012. Needless to say, it was an exciting day for anyone who develops eLearning content!

Check out my video below to get a first look at what’s new in Articulate 360!

What’s New in Articulate 360?

So, what’s new in Articulate 360? In addition to updated versions of Articulate Storyline, Articulate Studio, and Replay, Articulate 360 includes three brand-new authoring tools and a host of resources to help you designing amazing eLearning content. Here are two of my favorite features in Articulate 360:

Rise

Starting with Articulate’s newest tool: Rise. Compared to Articulate Storyline or Studio, Rise is a very unique eLearning authoring tool. Rise offers super-rapid eLearning development, in a web-based environment. In addition to being incredibly easy to use, Rise also has mobile responsiveness built-in! This makes it a no-brainer to create and offer mobile learning solutions.

Articulate Review

Another impressive tool offered through Articulate 360, is Articulate Review. Articulate Review is a simple, web-based tool that lets you upload and share your eLearning courses with subject matter experts, clients, and stakeholders. With Articulate Review, you can gather and manage course feedback in a simple interface.

Cost of Articulate 360

One of the biggest surprises with the release of Articulate 360, is the new pricing structure. No longer will you need to purchase a perpetual license each time a major update is released. Instead, Articulate has decided to move towards the software as a service (SaaS) model, much like Adobe Creative Cloud.

I only work with storyline a couple of times a year. I am retired but I do freelance sometimes. This is much too expensive for that. Is there any other options? Or am I stuck with the last one forever?

  • Nice overview, Tim! Thanks…

  • I agree with Linda Burns, for intermittent users, not having a one-time cost is quite prohibitive.

    • Thanks for commenting, Charlotta! I’ve noticed a very strong reaction from many people on this issue. I’m not sure how Articulate will respond, but I’m curious to see what they will do!

Great overview! Review looks like a under featured version of ReviewMyElearning.com…

    • Thanks for commenting, Tim! I think Articulate Review is very much an initial release. I suspect they will be adding additional features in the future.

  • Hi Tim – I am very excited about working with Articulate 360 but am pausing as I am on a Mac and have never set up a virtual Windows environment before to use 360. Any thoughts or suggestions?
